MARTIANS / IT THE TERROR FROM BEYOND SPACE

Planet of origin: Mars

This martian creature is a savage and possibly non-sentient humanoid reptilian species which nurrishes itself with the fluids of other creatures, preferably animal, sucking them dry. Standing two meters tall,  It has large three fingers hands and a large mouth with big pointy teeth. To survive the martian environment, it has developed a remarkable strenght and endurance, its thick scaly skin protecting it from most kinetic harm.

Contact was made with one of these creature in 1973 when a first manned mission to the red planet was decimated with only one survivor who was resued by another expedition aboard which ship a creature was able to stow away, killing part of the crew before they managed to throw it out the airlock.

Planet of Origin: Mars

The Martians are short green skinned humanoids with a large head, wide eyes, pointy ears and a pair on antenna coming out of the top of their head. They developed an advanced civilisation capable of advanced space travel a long time ago when their planet was still able to sustain life. Some still survive deep below the surface but most have left their homeworld to wonder the cosmos, actively looking for a new home on whihc they could start anew.

Men of Mars action figures where commercialised in the sixties. Their story was told at the back of their blisterpack:

From below the surface of  the dying planet Mars, the descendants of a once great race live on. Above them the majestic cities have long since crumbled and the vast canals lie buried beneath a silent sea of rust red sands. With time and water running out, Alpha 7 and other members of the Martian Armada travel the galaxy in search of another suitable planet to make their own. Their  frequent reconnaissance missions and landings on our Earth have given rise to what most Earth men consider "wild stories" of "flying saucers" and "little green men".

Planet of Origin: Mars

The Martians are a degenerate species that had a long time ago developed a glorious civilisation and which was barely surviving in the rare spots on their planet that still had some vegetation as of the 4th millenium.

The story tells of a series of invasion that befell Earth starting in 3195, as the universe unexpectedly starts to collapse on itself and the surviving species rush toward the worlds who are still unaffected by the phenomenon to delay their extinction. For some reasons, no mention is given that the invaders take any interest on settling on Mars.

FRANK R. PAUL'S MARTIANS

In 1940, science-fiction art pionneer Frank R. Paul did pieces showing what life could be on other planets. In his own words:

"Science tells us that is is logical to believe that other planets are inhabited by some form of life. Just what type isn't exactly certain, but astronomy points toward definite planetary conditions which can be taken into consideration in imagining what type of "man" that planet would be most likely to develop.  On our [front] cover we have conceived of the Man from Mars, as he most logically might exist.

Mars, the oldest of planets, cooled faster than its larger brothers.  Its location also aided in its rapid advance, and life must have appeared there long before on earth.  Therefore, our Martian must be more advanced, more evolved than we.  Considering his planetary environment he would most likely possess the following features...

The Man from Mars... is a strange looking individual. He has been evolved much differently than we because mars is a smaller planet, has less gravity, a thin atmosphere and extreme heat and cold. He has large ears to catch sound weakened by rarefied air. He communicates with his fellows by telepathy, using natural antenna. He is tall, walking with the aid of natural suction-type feet. he has magnificent lung development, and narrow, light body. he has retractable eyes and nose, to protect against freezing. his body, besides being protected by scientific garments, is covered with warm fur. Geing the most advanced creature in the solar system, he carries an atomic riffle, the result of greater science knowledge.

  

How Martians see us.

A Martian reconstruction of the Earthman, deduced from what he can discover of our world by observation and analysis, might very logically be such a creature as is shown here.The Martians had deduced that, since Earth is three-quarters water, then humans would probably be quasi-amphibian.  Due to the abundance of food, he would be a "fat, contented creature, with a large body, bullet-head, short legs, and webbed hands and feet... MARTIAN BARBAPAPA / POUMPOUM

Planet of origin: it i never clearly stated if th Martian Barbapapa are originary from Mars as it is never clearly stated if the Barbapapa family found on Earth is originary from our planet. In both cases, it is indeed their home.

Martian Barbapapa look a lot like their earthly cousins, being sentient  highly malleable organic vaguely sluglike organism are to mimic on sight almost any shape they see even very complex mechanical contraptions such as ailsnes, submarines and such, or even to create original forms dedicated to specialised uses. They can live in almost any type of environments, demonstrate extraordinary learning capacities, being able to invent complex machinery, from sailboats to interplanetary spaceships, and possess uncanny empathy with all forms of life, being able to domesticate most animals upon contact.

Contrarily to their earthbound counterparts which come in all colors of the spectrum, martian barbapapas are black and white, either striped or dotted, and sport a pair o small antennas coming out of their forehead. Their social structure is based on a tightly knit familial structure. They live in deep martian canyons that they'veturned into gardens.

Bug Out Bob The Popping Martian Doll is a compulsive fiddle toy. According to some sources, he originates from the 1950s, the 1970s or the early 1980s and was produced in Taiwan.The company's real focus was on latex and rubber products. However they made a few toys as a sideline, and the Martian Doll was one of them.
It recently made a retour en force on the market and can be found a lot opf places online.
